Aluminum is a silver-white light metal with relatively soft characteristics. It has a density of 2.7g/cm³, a melting point of 660.4℃, and a boiling point of 2467℃. Aluminum and aluminum alloys exhibit numerous excellent physical properties, making them extensively utilized materials. Aluminum possesses strong light reflection properties, even surpassing silver in reflecting ultraviolet light. The purer the aluminum, the better its reflective ability, and vacuum aluminum plating is commonly employed to produce high-quality mirrors. Combining vacuum aluminized film with polysilicon film results in an inexpensive and lightweight material for solar cells.

Aluminum powder retains a silvery luster and is frequently used in paint manufacturing, often referred to as silver powder. Pure aluminum is an excellent conductor of electricity, ranking second only to silver and copper in this regard. In the electric power industry, it can replace copper for wires and cables in certain applications. Aluminum also exhibits good heat conductivity, making it suitable for various heat exchangers, heat-dissipating materials, and household cookware within the industry.

Additionally, aluminum possesses good ductility and can be drawn into fine wires, rolled into various aluminum products, or even transformed into aluminum foil thinner than 0.01mm. This aluminum foil finds extensive use in packaging, including for cigarettes and candies.

When alloyed with other metals, aluminum can further enhance its properties, significantly expanding its application range. For instance, the addition of copper, magnesium, manganese, and other metals to aluminum greatly improves its strength, making it nearly equivalent to steel while maintaining a low density and resistance to rust. These characteristics make aluminum alloys suitable for manufacturing aircraft, cars, trains, ships, artificial satellites, rockets, and more.

Remarkably, at -196°C, certain steel materials become as brittle as glass, whereas some aluminum alloys exhibit increased strength and toughness. This makes them cost-effective and lightweight cryogenic materials ideal for storing liquid oxygen and hydrogen, commonly used as rocket fuel.
